International School Psychology Survey Research Project
In an effort to enhance our understanding of the training, roles, activities, and responsibilities of school psychologists in countries around the globe, members of the International School Psychology Survey (ISPS) is designed to provide a means of systematically gathering information from colleagues around the world. The International School Psychology Survey (ISPS) contains 46 items that address five domains: 1) characteristics of school psychologists, 2) training and regulation of the profession, 3) roles and responsibilities, 4) challenges, and 5) research. During the past few years, the ISPS has been collected in numerous countries around the world, including; Albania, Cyprus, Greece, Estonia, Northern England, Australia, China, Germany, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, and The United States. Data Collection, processing, and dissemination activities are ongoing.
What is ISPS?
The International School Psychology Survey (ISPS) project was initiated by Dr. Shane Jimerson as the Chairperson of the Research Committee of the International School Psychology Association. The project has the cooperation and support and assistance from many interested organizations, agencies, and experts around the world.
Under the direction of Dr. Jimerson, the Research Committee of the International School Psychology Association (ISPA) have developed a program of research to provide valuable information regarding the field of school psychology around the world. Researchers and professionals from around the world, in collaboration with the University of California at Santa Barbara Center for School-Based Youth Development helped design the research survey, and it is being hosted by the UCSB Social Science Survey Center.
