Courses for the Teacher Preparation Track.
The Undergraduate Minor offers a Teacher Preparation Track for students preparing for a career in elementary, secondary, or special education. The core of this track provides important foundations for prospective educators and includes coursework in adolescent and child development, multicultural education, and social foundations of education. In addition, the track gives prospective teachers the opportunity to learn more about the teaching profession through university course work, and includes a Pre-Professional Program designed for students to work as volunteers in classrooms under the supervision of a credentialed teacher. Students enrolled in the track are also encouraged to take courses in the minor that will fulfill prerequisites for the UCSB Teaching Credential Program and possibly at other institutions.
If you are interested in teaching science or mathematics, please consider the Minor in Science and Mathematics Education.
