(18 Units Required)

Core Courses (2 courses required):

  • ED 111 Introduction to Child and Adolescent Development (4 units)
  • ED 123 Multicultural Education (4 units)
  • ED 125 Social Foundations of Education (4 units)

Practicum (1 course required):

  • ED 122 Practicum in Field Observation in School Settings (2 units, may be taken twice)+
  • ED 176B Practicum in Individual Differences (4 units)

Elective Courses:

  • ED 103: Technology in Education (3 units)**
  • ED 109S or SS: Health Education (4 units)**
  • ED 111: Introduction to Child and Adolescent Development (4 units)
  • ED 121: Techniques in Field Observation (3 units)
  • ED 122: Practicum in Field Observation in School Settings (2 units, may be taken twice)+
  • ED 124: Research in Teaching and Learning in Sociocultural Contexts (4 units, may be taken twice)
  • ED 130: California Teach 2: Mathematics
  • ED 131: California Teach 2: Science
  • ED 142: Development of Play, Language and Literacy in Early Childhood and Care Settings
  • ED 143: Child, Family and Community
  • ED 144: Using Literature with Young Children
  • ED 171A: Psychology of Gender (4 units)
  • ED 173: Introduction to Leadership Development (4 units)
  • Ed 190: Intro to Autism (4 units. Requirements: Psychology 1, 3.0 GPA)
  • Ed 191A: Sex and Relationships (4 units)
  • Ed 191B: Alcohol and Drugs (4 units)
  • Ed 191C: Healthy Eating and Living (4 units)
  • Ed 191D: Peer Health Education Internships (3 units)
  • ED 197: Special Topics in Education and Applied Psychology (2-4 units)(with track advisor approval)

Students are encouraged to enroll in classes early as space is limited.

**Meets Teacher Education Program prerequisites.
+Can be taken for Pre-Professional hours.

Substitution Policy:

Community College and other lower division courses may NOT be used as a substitution for any minor course

You may be able to transfer up to six upper division quarter units from courses you have taken at other colleges or universities if the courses are approved by the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education CCSP Track Advisor. Substitution forms are available on the main Minor homepage.
