Teacher Education Program

Graduate Studies / Teacher Education Program / Prospective Students / Screening Interviews

Screening Interviews

Applicants to the Teaching Education Program will be invited to attend an on-campus group-screening interview to be considered for admission. The interview will provide a chance for applicants to demonstrate their writing and communication skills.

Once your complete application packet has been received by the Teacher Education Program, you will be contacted by the TEP office via the email listed on your application to attend one of our interview dates.

If you do not hear from the TEP office via email within 2 weeks of submitting your complete application packet, please contact the office at 805-893-2084 or tepapp@education.ucsb.edu.

***Early interview dates: applicants with a complete application submitted by December 1st, 2012 will be invited via email to attend a January interview date for early admission consideration. We reserve the right to cancel this interview date if we have an insufficient number of complete applications. Applicants affected by a cancellation of the January interview date would be rescheduled for an interview in February or March.

Alternative Screening Interview: The on-campus interview is the preferred and recommended process. However, applicants who live outside the Santa Barbara County region and need to travel a distance may request an alternative interview that includes a videotape of a teaching lesson and a telephone interview. Request an alternative interview only as a final option if it is not at all possible to come to UCSB. Contact the Office (805) 893-2084 to request an alternative screening interview.

If an applicant does not attend an interview date or does not request an alternative screening interview, the application will be considered incomplete.
