INFORMATION MEETINGS

If you are interested in applying to the Teacher Education Program, we recommend you attend one of the following meetings. The Preprofessional Program also offers Information Meetings (directly following the Teacher Education Program meetings).

Reservations are NOT required. If you have further questions, please contact the Teacher Education Office, ED 3230 or 805-893-2084.

Multiple and Single Subject Credential
Meetings

10:45am-12pm

LOCATION: ED 1215

November 2nd, 2009

November 9th, 2009

November 30th, 2009

December 7th, 2009

Please contact Suzanne Raphael (Suzanne@education.ucsb.edu or 805-893-2036) if you cannot attend the scheduled Information Meetings listed above and would like to arrange a private meeting.

The Teacher Education Program Information Meetings provide information regarding prerequisites, requirements for admission, instructions for completing the application process, and the structure of the Teacher Education Program with the Master's Degree in Education.

All applicants interested in applying to the credential program should attend an information meeting as soon as possible. Applicants may need at least one year to complete the state and university prerequisites required for admission to the program.

Since preprofessional experience is one of the prerequisites for application to the program, the Preprofessional Orientation and Placement Meetings immediately follow the Credential Information Meetings.

Preprofessional Meetings

12:10pm-1:00pm

LOCATION: ED 1215

(following each Credential meeting above)

Please contact Judy Headley (jheadley@education.ucsb.edu or 805-893-3976) if you would like to arrange a private meeting.

The Teacher Education Preprofessional Program provides individuals who are considering a career in education with opportunities to participate in school and classroom experiences at either the elementary or secondary level. It gives those who are undecided about a career in education a chance to see if classroom life is really for them. For those who are committed to a career in education, it provides valuable classroom experience in preparation for entrance into a university credential program. Preprofessional experience is required for entrance into most credential programs including the UCSB Teacher Education Program. In addition, UCSB students may enroll in ED 121 and ED 122 for three (3) units of credit.
