Screening Interviews

Applicants to the Teaching Credential Program will be invited to attend a group-screening interview to be considered for admission. The interview includes opportunities to assess an applicant’s writing and communication skills. Applicants receive more information on how to prepare for the interview after their graduate application is processed by the Credential Services Office. Multiple Subject Credential applicants who apply by the November 15 deadline will be invited to attend the interview on December 8, 2007. Single Subject Credential applicants who apply by the November 15 deadline will be invited to attend the interview on December 1, 2007. Additional Interview dates for those who apply after November 15 but no later than February 15 include:

Multiple Subject Program Interview Dates: February 23, 2008 or February 25, 2008

Single Subject Program Interview Dates: February 22, 2008 or March 1, 2008

Applicants will receive a Pre-Interview Questionnaire that includes an opportunity to select an interview date. Since interviews are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, applicants are encouraged to return this form as soon as possible. An email confirmation will be sent within two weeks with more information on how to prepare for the interview. If you do not receive a confirmation please call (805) 893-2084. If you have questions regarding the screening interview, please contact the Credential Services Office at (805) 893-2084.

Alternative Screening Interview: The on-campus interview is the preferred and recommended process. However, applicants who live outside the Santa Barbara County region and need to travel a distance may request an alternative interview that includes a videotape of a teaching lesson and a telephone interview. Request an alternative interview only if it is not possible to come to UCSB. Contact the Office (805) 893-2084 if you will be requesting an alternative screening interview.
