Shane Jimerson, Professor at UC Santa Barbara’s Givertz School, to discuss school safety on KEYT3’s In Focus with Tracy Lehr

Dr. Shane Jimerson, Professor in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School, will discuss school safety in light of the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech on the news program In Focus on KEYT3 on Sunday, April 22 at 6:30 pm.

Dr Jimerson, along with UCSB colleague Michael J. Furlong, edited the comprehensive, timely, and indispensable Handbook of School Violence and School Safety: From Research to Practice (Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, 2006). Jimerson is the Associate Dean of Research at the Gevirtz School and continues to engage in leadership activities at the state, national, and international levels, advocating for children and bringing science to practice to promote the social and cognitive competence of children. He has recently received the 2007 AWARD OF EXCELLENCE from the National Association of School Psychologists’ Crisis Management Division. This distinguished award recognizes his outstanding leadership and scholarly contributions to The Crisis Prevention and Intervention Workgroup.

In Focus, hosted by Tracy Lehr, provides the Santa Barbara region with highlights of local events, activities, and important community issues. It airs every Sunday night on KEYT3 at 6:30 pm.
