Jane Close Conoley, Dean of UC Santa Barbara’s Givertz School, and Sally Kingston, Principal of Harding School, to discuss educational collaborations on KZSB 1290 AM


Dr. Jane Close Coonley, Dean of the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, and Dr. Sally Kingston, Principal of Harding Elementary School, will discuss innovative educational collaborations with Ron “The Barron” Herron on KZSB 1290 AM on Wednesday, April 18 from 9-10 am. Those out of the Santa Barbara listening area can hear the broadcast via the web.

Dr. Jane Close Conoley has been dean of the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education since January 2006. Before coming to UC Santa Barbara, Dr. Conoley served as dean of the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University for ten years. Prior to that appointment, she was a professor, department chair, and associate dean for research and curriculum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She received her B.A. in psychology from the College of New Rochelle, and her Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Conoley is well known for the depth and impact of her research on school psychology. She is the author or co-author of 20 books, 33 book chapters, and 30 articles on education issues, and has been the principal or co-principal investigator of grants with awards totaling over $18 million.

Dr. Sally Kingston has been principal of Harding Elementary School since August 2005. Kingston earned her doctorate and master’s degrees in educational leadership and organizations from the Gevirtz School. Her experience includes work as a bilingual second-grade teacher at Peabody Charter School, GATE math teacher and homework center tutor at La Cumbre, and English as a Second Language department chair at La Cumbre. On an administrative level, she has been an assistant principal of La Colina Junior High, followed by one year as principal of Franklin Primary Elementary School, then three years as principal at Roosevelt Elementary School. In 2002, Kingston served as the assistant superintendent of human resources at the Santa Barbara County Education Office. The following year, she was the director of UC Santa Barbara’s California Center for Effective Schools.
