The Teacher Education Program at UC Santa Barbara's Gevirtz School to hold two information meetings about $30,000 fellowships for aspiring teachers of color

 

The Teacher Education Program at UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School will hold two free information meetings for students interested in applying for the Woodrow Wilson-Rockefeller Brothers Fund (WW-RBF) Fellowships for Aspiring Teachers of Color. Award amounts are  $30,000.  The student of color must be an undergraduate in a nominating institution (which UCSB is) and be accepted into one of 28 identified high quality teacher education programs (which UCSB’s Teacher Education Program is).

Students must meet the following qualifications:

  • Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better
  • Be a self-identified student of color
  • Have U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
  • Be an enrolled UCSB senior in Fall 2011 and graduate by June 30, 2012
  • Be interested in teaching in a high-need urban or rural area
  • Be nominated by their eligible nominating institution
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the WW-RBF program and its goals

Wednesday, May 18
Both meetings are from 11:30am - 12:30pm in Education 1213
