The Gevirtz Graduate School of Education has established a new source of funding for students, the Dean’s Council Scholar program. This program will assist the Gevirtz School to continue to attract the best and the brightest students by helping to defray the cost of their graduate studies with awards up to $5,000 a year. Donors to this program will not only transform the life of a student, but the donor will also be introduced to the student and learn of his or her research interests. Dean Jane Close Conoley says about this new program, “The very best students are needed to serve the broad educational needs of our state and nation. Without support, however, students are discouraged from pursuing careers in education. Our Dean’s Council commitment will make a difference.”
The Dean’s Council – consisting of 25 local and national leaders including community leaders, alumni, faculty, students, researchers, policy makers, school district personnel, and significant philanthropists – advises Dean Conoley in order to support the School’s research, intellectual, and physical growth.
